Let’s start with a verse in the bible. James 5:1-5 it starts like this.
Look here, you rich people you weep and grow with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rugs. Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire ., This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment. Or listen to the cries of the files of workers who you have cheated of their pay. The wages you held back will cry out against you. The cries of those who harvest your field have reached the ears of the Lord of heaven’s armies. You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter.
The part of this is our earthly possessions are just that, possessions as it is. To store material or money is not a sin but to not use your earthly resources to help your fellow man is something. God will bless you in your next life. You can’t take anything with you when you die. Good deads with your financial resources will travel with you in your next life. Giving and helping others will make you rich in your next life. It’s a transfer of earthly funds into heavenly wealth. That verse in James makes the point that when you die and are judged by God, all your wealth will expose the fact that you could have done a lot of good deeds for those less fortunate. It will be your trophy and yours only. Your heart will be on display before God. The bottom line is, it’s a matter of the heart.
